The college application process was so overwhelming to us I wasn’t sure how we would get through it.  A friend recommended that we call Your Journey To College.  As soon as we met our college consultant, we felt as if a weight had been lifted off our shoulders.  She made the entire process so easy and with her help and guidance my son got all his applications in on time for early admission.  Her knowledge and experience are invaluable; she knew exactly what colleges would be good matches for my son and some of her suggestions ended up being his top choices.  She even helped him edit his essay. It showed who he really is and was so beautifully written he received three hand written notes from three different college admissions officers saying how much they loved it. When my older daughter entered 11th grade, we were very overwhelmed with the college application information. Although I attended our high school college preparation meetings, I felt very lost and thought I wasn’t able to give my daughter the guidance she needed.  Then our Advisor came  to came into our lives. She understood my daughter’s goals and dreams and helped us find a college that she would succeed in. Our Advisor mapped out a program to keep us all on schedule with SAT, ACT, AP exams, and application deadlines. With our Your Journey to College consultant's help, my oldest daughter was able to graduate from an amazing school!

    Five years later, I have knocked on her door again for my younger daughter. Faced with a pandemic, the high school did not offer much assistance during the college application process.  We were on our own to figure out this college path.  Then, once again, our Advisor came into our lives and mapped out an amazing college plan. She truly understood my younger daughter's needs and concerns about applying to colleges without the benefit of being able to visit a campus. Our Advisor walked every step of the way with us and between Zoom meetings, she kept in contact and always suggested colleges that fit what my daughter wanted. Every piece of my daughter's college applications were checked and reviewed. Our Advisor truly helped relieve all of the college stress we had; I call her the “ high school student Jedi warrior “!  She understands young adults, she listens to them, and she gets them. 

      In my family we have so much respect and appreciation for our Your Journey to College Advisor and it is unmeasurable. I always thought I wasn't going to be able to get through the college application process, considering how overwhelming it is. Once I heard of Your Journey To College, I got in contact with my college consultant right away. Right then and there, so much weight was lifted off of my shoulders. When it was time to think about college I was completely clueless. Neither of my parents went to college so we didn't know what step to take first. Navigating the college application process is complicated and stressful, for both the parent and child. While school counselors are available to help, they only have so many hours to dedicate to each student. Enlisting the help of Your Journey to College was the best decision for us. As a first-generation, low-income student, I found the college application process quite daunting and was unsure about my college list and personal statement. As soon as I met my college consultant I was sure I had made the right decision, she was so interested in what I was looking for as far as my college experience and guided me every step of the way.  In addition to good grades I was an average swimmer all through high school and I didn't have a clue how I would transition onto a college team.  My college consultant was a wealth of information and with her guidance I found the college that was right for me, both academically and physically.  I just graduated with a BS in Secondary Education/Biology and swam all 4 years on the college team and totally enjoyed my college experience.
